LIKE MOTOCROSS IN THE OCEAN

There is a place in Brazil where the wind constantly blows side-on-shore along the entire coast.

With its landscapes filled with mammoth dunes, Caribbean watered lagoons only accessible by sea; Tatajuba in Brazil has become the Mecca for kitesurf downwinder crossings.

KITERS DELIGHT

All the way.

kitegirl

In Brazil you can kite as much as you can, so give importance to bringing equipment you can rely on, as you can spend many hours on the water every day.

The wind builds up the power as we travel further north, so include a smaller kite in your quiver.

7m, 9m and 11m kites should cover your needs, for lightweight or female riders, kites should be one or two sizes smaller.

We ask for the people joining the tours to have good riding skills and be able to safely handle self-rescue, quickly re-launch the kite on water and have some experience with kiting through dynamic conditions, as well as being in good physical shape. This is for safety reasons and for everyone’s enjoyment on the water.

KITE UNITED

For some, it does not even ring a bell. For others, it means everything, and they build their life around it. If you have already witnessed it for the first time, for sure, it made you wonder, "what the heck are these guys doing dangling in the air under that big parachute? And how are they even doing it?"

Kite unites! It takes a good week of training to understand it. On this trip to Brazil, we welcome all those who are madly in love with it and want to share the downwind magic with others who are in love with it too.

PERFECT WINDS

Kiting from A to Z.

Good weather in Brazil can be almost guaranteed. High sun factor and sunblock for the lips are essential, which is not the case for neoprene. We, however, prefer a shorty or a thin neoprene jacket to lycra, as even though the water and air temperatures are high, it can get a bit chilly after spending many hours on the water in the company of strong winds. But like with anything in life, the choice is always yours.

    TATAJUBA

    TATAJUBA

Tatajuba! Sounds like an exclamation of amazement? There’s a reason for it: It’s the name of a pristine lagoon that is a tropical dream come true. A kite surfer’s dream, that is. The perfect place to kick off our Kite Safari Brazil with an extended warm-up session, followed by a short, fast and fun downwinder.

  • DAY 2

    JERICOACOARA

    TATAJUBA - JERICOACOARA

Let the leg-burning games begin: Jeri to Tatajuba is a super-fun downwinder that keeps going forever… Lunch brake is at a stylish restaurant in the middle of the mangrove forest of Guriú. Back at Tatajuba there’s still time for a sunset session – and for a well-deserved sundowner at the beach bar.

  • DAY 3

    BARRA GRANDE

    MACEIO - BARRA GRANDE

This stretch of our Kite Safari is a very tide-sensitive issue, so we have a flexible plan: From Tatajuba we go for a downwinder to Camocim, or we downwind from Camocim past Maceio towards Barra Grande. One way or the other we’ll end up with a post-surf grin in the famous Pousada BGK in Barra Grande.

  • DAY 4

    BARRA GRANDE

    BARRA GRANDE

The paradise-on-earth atmosphere of Barra Grande’s lagoon in the middle of a lush mangrove forest is quite a memorable experience. However, if you’re a freestyle kite surfer, there’s something you’ll remember even more: The epic conditions of this mirror-like playground. The ride back with the donkey express is quite fun, as well.

  • DAY 5

    MACAPÁ

    BARRA GRANDE & MACAPÁ

Spoilt for choice: Another downwinder to the world-class spot Macapá followed by another freestyle session at the local lagoon – or the other way round? In the evening, we’re spoilt for choice again: Another Caipirinha or another ice-cold cocktail from the well-stocked bar at BGK’s?

  • DAY 6

  • DAY 7
