One of Spain's most prolific surf coach, Jose Maria Cabrera, offers a one-of-a-kind surf retreat in Famara, Lanzarote.

Over the course of 3 days, Jose Maria will take you through his tried and tested surfer's improvement plan, designed to help you progress in logical, structured leaps forward.

As an elite surfer, he has a knack for taking the guesswork out of surfing, helping his students quickly understand and implement the techniques needed to fully unlock your surfing potential in the water.

Best time to surf Lanzarote

The incredible quality of surf in Lanzarote has earned the island the nickname of “European Hawaii”, with a variety of spots for surfers of all levels.

October is one of the best months to get coached as you can either surf end of the summer swells down south or catch some early winter swells up north.

Expect warm temperatures during the day and mild water temperatures in the 20 degrees range. Bring a spring wetsuit or a 3/2 with you. Surf is always up in this island.

At night, the temperature can drop a bit as the island is exposed to the Atlantic ocean so think about a jacket when packing your suitcase.

You will be staying in the northernmost part of the island of Lanzarote. Also its oldest part.

16 million years ago the first parts of the island surfaced here and within the remains of these upheavals stands an astonishing mountain range perfect for hiking: the Risco de Famara.

The cliff is about 15km long and on average 550m high. It follows the whole western coast of the northern peninsula of Lanzarote. Get ready for some epic walks after your surfing sessions.
